چکیده
[1] Comparison of results from a three-dimensional (3-D) finite difference time domain (FDTD) model of Schumann resonances (SR) with a set of classical eigenfrequency and quality factor solutions for laterally uniform spherically symmetric Earth-ionosphere cavity and recent SR observations during solar proton events (SPEs) and X-ray bursts demonstrate the potential and applicability of the FDTD technique for studies of realistic SR problems. Power variations of Schumann resonances related to El Niño and La Niña phenomena
[1] A three dimensional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD)model of the Earth-ionosphere cavitywith the realistic conductivity profile is employed to study the intensity variations of Schumann resonances (SR) associated with the El Niño and La Niña phenomena. Comparison of the results derived from our FDTD model and the previous studies by other authors on related subjects shows that the inten...
متن کاملThree-dimensional finite difference time domain modeling of the diurnal and seasonal variations in Schumann resonance parameters
[1] The diurnal and seasonal variations of Schumann resonances (SR) have been reported in a number of experiments. In this paper, a three-dimensional FDTD model of the Earth-ionosphere cavity with a day-night asymmetric conductivity profile is employed to study the diurnal and seasonal variability of the power and frequency of the first Schumann resonance (SR) mode. Comparison of the FDTD resul...
متن کاملThree-dimensional finite difference time domain modeling of the Schumann resonance parameters on Titan, Venus, and Mars
[1] The conducting ionosphere and conducting surface of Titan, Venus, and Mars form a concentric resonator, which would support the possibility of the existence of global electromagnetic resonances. On Earth, such resonances are commonly referred to as Schumann resonances and are excited by lightning discharges. The detection of such resonances on other planets would give a support for the exis...
متن کاملRecent Advances in FDTD Modeling of Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in the Ionosphere
─ Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) modeling of electromagnetic wave propagation in the Earth-ionosphere waveguide has gained significant interest over the past two decades. Initially, FDTD modeling capabilities were largely limited to two-dimensional models assuming a plasma ionosphere (but incapable of accounting for Faraday rotation), or to threedimensional global models assuming a simple...
متن کاملTHREE DIMENSIONAL MODELING OF TURBULENT FLOW WITH FREE SURFACE IN MOLD FILLING
In the present study a Finite Difference Method has been developed to model the transient incompressible turbulent free surface fluid flow. A single fluid has been selected for modeling of mold filling and The SOLA VOF 3D technique was modified to increase the accuracy of simulation of filling phenomena for shape castings. For modeling the turbulence phenomena k-e standard model was used. In or...
